I had a tooth extracted from the far back of my mouth, however 2
months later I still feel as though there is a tooth ache there why is that?
Since it takes at least 8 weeks for such an extraction site to heal, you may still be
feeling the healing process taking place, OR there may still be another tooth causing your
toothache even though your body interprets the pain as coming from your extraction site.
Perhaps the most common reason for persistent pain from a molar extraction site
(especially the lower molars) is 'Dry Socket' syndrome. This occurs when the healing
process of an extraction site is interrupted, creating a dry and sore area where your
tooth was removed. This is a very common problem for people who smoke, but can occur to
anyone. When dry socket occurs, it can take many months to heal properly. I recommend that
you consult your dentist if problems persist. |
